TEMA (Tool for Electronic Model Automation) is EDA software for automated SPICE modeling of advanced semiconductor devices (MOS, BJT, diode, JFET, GaAs, SOI, TFT, passives, etc.) for analog/RF circuit design. TEMA has been designed for semiconductor foundries and fabless industries to perform data acquisition, device characterization, and SPICE model parameter extraction. The tool is highly suitable for all kinds of electrical modeling including DC, CV, RF, and 1/f noise for on-wafer as well as packaged semiconductor devices. The SPICE parameter extraction of the industry-standard compact models, such as SGP, VBIC, HiCUM, BSIM, and EKV, can be generated with the highest performance and accuracy. TEMA has a link with most popular SPICE-like analog circuit simulators. TEMA also supports all DC and CV characterizations, which are required for SPICE modeling.
TEMA analysis is managed with two files: the Electronic Model Automation (EMA) file and the Data for Electronic Model (DEM) file. Users can save all information about the SPICE model, circuit, test, extraction, and plot description in an EMA file. All simulated and measured data for a device setup, including DC, AC, CV, RF, 1/f noise, and temperature description, can be stored in a single DEM file.
The MATLAB engine has been integrated within the TEMA environment, so that users can utilize all MATLAB functions for electronic model automation. TEMA has a MATLAB interface for model parameter extraction, plotting, and measurement. The tool essentially uses MATLAB routines to extract model parameters from measured data. The tool also supports the development of user-specific parameter extraction modules using the MATLAB programming language along with the user-friendly TEMA interfaces. Users can control TEMA via MATLAB or vice versa. Advanced technology enables very fast data transfer between TEMA and MATLAB.
