I need to segment plasenta from a scan of a baby. (I'm guessing 3-4 months old)

The problem is, I used functions(filters) from texture and intensity point of views but there is loss especially on the boundaries because the intensity or texture seem to vary through the plasenta. The second problem is the boundary between the other things and the plasenta is sometimes very ambiguous. What do you think I should do? Which technique would you recommend?

And how on earth can I upload images here?
