The Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems (Gordon-CenSSIS) promotes a philosophy of putting modern technology into the hands of students as early as possible in their education, and using this technology to solve real, open-ended problems. The High-Tech Tools and Toys Laboratory is a discovery-based educational laboratory that creates an exciting problem-solving environment where generic engineering skills are learned. MATLAB is used to interface to several of the state-of-the-art hardware components in the lab.

Learning Outcomes

  • Obtain real-world engineering experience by combining MATLAB with lab hardware to solve complex problems
  • Learn how working in a single, efficient software environment saves valuable time
